Hamish began creating imagined landscapes and seascapes as a personal response to an extended lockdown while living in London in 2020. His creative mind took him back to his memories growing up in Aotearoa, exploring the rugged ranges and coastal areas of the Wellington region. Being unable to travel home, he developed a series of landscape-based artworks featuring places that meant something to him—created totally from memory.
Hamish returned to live in Aotearoa in 2021. Although he now lives amongst these landscapes again, his creative mind continues to amalgamate fragments of the scenes around him to create these beautiful vistas.
